To my sweet, sweet seven year old: Happy Birthday!

You have brought so much joy to our family from the moment you arrived! You were the best baby anyone could ask for. And you have grown into such a sweet, caring, intelligent young boy. I love watching you when you are determined to do your best . . . you are so focused. I love watching you helping your little brothers and playing with them, you are so good with them.

I feel like the song, "The Circle of Life" from The Lion King is playing as we walk in our backyard. Our yard is full of new life . . .

Here are my 7 quick takes:

1. WE ARE DONE!! The school year is officially over for us. We finished up homeschooling last week and last night I had our portfolio review . . . . summer can start now!

2. Had my second appointment with the Sports Chiropractor today . . . I felt like I got beaten up! I have tons of muscle imbalances, not to mention carrying kids on my hips has done some damage to the normal running motion that I should have. So, I go to this Dr.

I am normally a very positive person. I try to be hope-full and joy-full most of the time. But if I spend any amount of time thinking about the direction our country is going in, our national debt, the Gulf Oil spill or any number of other things and I get full of despair and think the world is coming to an end.

The truth is, history is full of tragedy, natural disasters, horrible things. They will continue to happen. Many politicians will, unfortunately, continue to be corrupt.

Last week we went to the park . . . . . . and rode on the train

. . . and rode the Merry Go Round

. . . and took a hay ride

This past Sunday I ran in the Zooma Annapolis 10K. I had originally registered for the half marathon, but several weeks ago switched down to the 10K due to shin splints. I was nervous to run this race because I have not run more than 3 miles at a time since the GW Parkway 10 miler in April and I had to stop running in May for three weeks due to the shin splints (and waiting for a Dr to tell me it was OK to run).

To my precious 4 year old!! I love you my sweet, sweet K! You have a heart of gold. I love how "all boy" you can be one minute and how caring you can be the next.
